Award-winning restaurants
It’s not only up on the mountains but also down in the gourmet temples in the valley that the young Zillertal gastronomy sector has taken on the challenge of reinterpreting Zillertal traditions and presenting them in new and contemporary ways. Traditional dishes as well as new creations inspired by the concept of modern, light cuisine are all on the menu.
MICHELIN Guide 2026 (1-3 stars)
On March 18 2026, the coveted MICHELIN stars were once again awarded in Austria: The Tux-Zillertal restaurants Guat'z Essen in Stumm, the Genießerstube im Alpenhof in Tux and the newcomer Bergfried - Chef's Table - also from Tux - were each awarded one of the prestigious MICHELIN stars. In addition, Sebastian Stock, head chef at the Bergfried - Chef's Table restaurant, received the MICHELIN Young Chef Award and Guat'z Essen was once again awarded the green MICHELIN star for special commitment to sustainability. The awards are further proof of the exceptional culinary quality of the Zillertal.
